Job Title: Program Specialist - Middle School Attendance Liaison 

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The purpose of the Middle School Attendance Liaison is to identify students who are struggling with regular attendance. The person in this role will support a tiered school wide, sustainable attendance system in collaboration with attendance team members and district attendance liaison.  This position regularly communicates with parents and students regarding attendance support and available resources.  This position does not supervise any employees. This position reports to the Principal or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; 72 quarter hours of accredited college or equivalent education preferred. 

 

Experience: Prior job related experiences with migrant families or at risk populations; paid or volunteer. 

 

Skills: Bilingual in English and Spanish languages preferred. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and able to communicate with parents, students, staff and community. Use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling, and perform basic clerical functions and arithmetic calculations. Excellent organization skills. Able to operate a computer, office machines, telephone and other technology equipment. Excellent computer skills, including use of Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google programs. 

 

Knowledge: Knowledge of variances in hispanic cultures. 

 

Abilities: Work harmoniously with others. Work and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English, Spanish, or other languages related to the job. Work independently without supervision, and with minimum oral/written instructions. Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, maintain confidentiality of all family interactions and student records, meet schedules and deadlines, read/interpret/apply rules, regulations and policies. Ability to problem solve. Significant physical abilities include lifting/reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity, moving to various locations within the classroom and school. Ability to drive a personal motor vehicle. 

 

Continuing Education/Training Clearances: Pre-employment criminal justice fingerprint clearance and criminal background check. Valid Oregon Driver’s License
